And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’" is not a generic if/promise statement for all people of all ages. We cannot claim this today. The verse ends, "These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel." We must rightly divide this promise. Similarly, the threats of particular punishments ("if you obey not") found in the Law and the prophets cannot be applied in this age. Clearly, many who obey the voice of the Lord do not prosper, and many who worship idols and money and live wickedly profit greatly today. Thanks for your thoughts.

JESUS who is GOD did not die but the flesh of the man with GOD the spirit in him. So you mis state. JESUS body was buried and then that same body became glorified after the resurrection. All power and glory was with GOD in fulfillment of what was spoken before the incarnation of JESUS in to one Virgin woman named Mary wife of Joseph!

Jesus is God, but he did die. The wages of sin is death, and he paid that price. Then her conquered death and the grave by rising again. "And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, 'Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.' Having said this, He gave up the spirit." The spirit is the breath of life. Adam "became a living soul" when God breathed spirit into him. And more pointedly, Paul writes in 1 Thess 4:14, "For if we believe that Jesus died and arose again, so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus." A common mistake in theology is the idea that men are triune beings. We have a body, we are a soul, and we have life (spirit). These are not separate entities. The Lord said he would be in Hades (which is the state of the dead) for three days and three nights. He was not simultaneously in a grave and in heaven. That would mean there are 5 parts of the Godhead. He died, his body was put in a tomb, but who he is was in a state of death in Hades. Paul uses "Hades" only once, and it refers to believers in a state of death (1 Cor 15). Thanks.

No way, dude! That was, like, totally clever and stuff! No, I believe complex organic material arose magically from inorganic material by accident somehow for no reason, and arranged itself, by accident, to become alive with the ability to reproduce itself. Then accidentally, again for no reason, created errors that somehow were beneficial and reproduced. Then, by accident for no reason, the singular ability to reproduce required a separate male and female which both accidentally and separately appeared with full reproductive systems. Then their offspring accidentally, through a series of countless errors, accidentally defied the laws of science (like inorganic to organic) and became more complex and gained information. Skipping ahead a trillion more accidents for no reason, I believe that every thought I have is merely the result of a chemical reaction to stimuli and can be explained no other way. In fact, your post is just the accidental result of a chemical response to stimuli and is in no way what could be called an “independent” thought as nothing exists outside the physical world. Correct. The wages of sin is death. All die. The way to see Life is in resurrection. Paul uses Hades only once and it is in reference to believers. In 1 Cor 15 he teaches that the victory over the grave and death will be in the resurrection. At death, we know nothing. We must be awakened by Life. The dead in Christ shall rise.

Not really relevant, but thanks. If the Lord was born in September, 4BC, on Rosh HaShanah, that would mean conception around December 25 of 5BC. We know RH was September 11 in 3BC, which would allow a Dec 25 conception. Dec 25 (the Word became flesh) to September 11 (and dwelt among us) works. As we know, pagans often had holidays and gods that mimicked Biblical truth. Many of the Greek gods are false reflections of the true God, etc. The podcast is about the coming of the Messiah to fulfill prophecies for Israel in connection to her earthly hope and promises. It was not to fulfill anything for the Body. The point being, the birth of the Lord, and the events surrounding it, were for Israel. Peace.

@@jonnyw82 Yes and no. As with all scripture, there is a specific audience and also general application. When John says "God is Love" that is a generic truth. But when the Lord is ministering, He said he was "sent to none, but to the lost sheep of the House of Israel" (Matt 15). He also forbade his disciples to preach the gospel of the Kingdom to Gentiles. They were to go to Jews only (Matthew 10). If someone believes the Lord is speaking directly to him, has that one raised the dead? Has he sold everything and given it to the poor? Does he think he will sit on a throne judging the 12 tribes of Israel? Does he believe that if he calls a brother "empty headed" he will have to appear before the Sanhedrin? Does he tell people that Jesus is the Christ even though the Lord forbade his disciples from doing so? Does he believe if he calls his brother a "fool" that he is in danger of Gehenna fire (hell fire - KJV)? Context and consistency. He is Lord of all, but he is only "the Son of David" to Israel. When the Gentile woman approaches him as "Son of David" he dismisses her, but when she comes to him as her "Lord" only, he hears her (Matthew 15). But even in that discourse, she takes her place as a "little dog" beneath the children's table. Israel are the heirs of the earthly promises, covenants, and kingdom (Rom 9). The hope of this age is a hope in the "far above the heavens" (Ephesians). The Lord came for his earthly Davidic throne. The Gospel of the Kingdom is not about the death and resurrection of the Lord. John the Baptist knew nothing about his death when he declared the Kingdom. When the apostles were told the Lord had to die, they refused to believe it (Matthew 16) and the Lord forbade them from telling anyone. Jesus was rejected by Israel, but Peter again offers the Kingdom in Acts 3 to Israel alone ("Ye men of Israel"). Read Acts 1:1-7. The Lord will return and will restore the Kingdom in Israel. That is why the first thing they did was elect a 12th Apostle. If Israel repented, the Kingdom would come in, the Lord would return and restore all things (Acts) and they needed 12 men to judge the 12 tribes of Israel (Matt 19). Paul taught "no other thing than that which was spoken by Moses and the Prophets" in the Acts (Acts 26). Paul witnessed to "the hope of Israel" (Acts 28) and always when to Jews first (Acts 17). In Ephesians he reveals a heavenly hope that was not known to Moses and the Prophets, but revealed to Paul alone. That is the message of today and the hope we have, in heavenly places, not in an earthly hope. But that earthly hope will come for a restored Israel in the future. Thanks for asking!

Not sure how the astonishment makes the content for all men of all ages. Clearly there are things in the sermon (I listed just a couple) that no one follows today, nor can we, nor should we. Just sticking with the traditions of men, do you believe "whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire" is for today? How about "whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the Sanhedrim." Does your church teach this? Do you believe this is for today? You are free to believe the Sermon and prayer are for you, but then you have to teach these things. This sermon is in Matt 5-7. In Matt 10 the Lord forbids his 12 to go to the Gentiles, why? In Matt 15 he tells the Canaanite (Gentile) woman that he was "sent to NONE but to the lost sheep of the House of Israel." Did he lie? In Luke 12:33 the Lord tells his disciples to sell all they have and give alms. Is this for all men of all ages? Have you done this? Why not? In Matt 10 he instructs his disciples not only to NOT go unto the Gentiles, but to raise the dead. Are these for all men of all ages? This is why we must rightly divide the Word of Truth (2 Tim 2:15). Peace.

Forgiveness does not require a restoration of relationship. Forgiving is not easy, but it is necessary if one seeks forgiveness. It also does not forbid temporal punishment. One can forgive and still demand justice.

Exactly. The Gospel of the Kingdom is not preached to us. We preach the gospel of the free grace of God which is not the gospel of the Kingdom. And even in Galatians, Paul makes a distinction in the Acts age between the gospel to the circumcision and the gospel to the uncircumcised (Gal 2:7). The hope of that age was the fulfillment of the promise to Abraham, the land, and earthly hope (Gal 3:8). That is not the hope we preach today. Our hope is in the far above the heavens and does not distinguish between Jew or Gentile. It is a heavenly hope that was hidden from the the prophets (Ephesians). The earthly hope was revealed FROM or SINCE the foundation of the world (ages) whereas the heavenly hope was hidden from BEFORE the foundation and revealed only to Paul.

I think Zeffirelli had everyone overact in the entire series. The music builds and the acting was all very over-the-top. That said, since it was consistent, it does attain the effect he wanted. Every line comes off as important and with a punch. In that scene with Mason, Olivier, and Quinn, you're get a combination of powerfully delivered lines. The heavy natural reverb adds to it all as well.

@@MichaelScotto It was all built around Robert Powell. Zeffirelli knew that he was writing history with Powell's portrait of Jesus. The "heavy classic actors" added was to give the whole production further weight, but in the end it was all up to Jesus..or the guy portraying him rather. What Powell managed to do was both a blessing and a curse, I presume. But his portrayal of Christ is unmatched to this day. Mel Gibson tried, but the enigma of Jesus is so much more than suffering. To millions around the world still today..Robert Powell is the face of Christ. Kinda scary tbh. I'm also certain it will never be toppled, and will fade into history as the masterpiece it is. Kinda like The Lord of The Rings Trilogy. What we got in the early 2000s will never be achieved again.
